Paul Bull

I'm Paul Bull and I run Paul Bull Coaching which provides paddlers with a range of courses and opportunities to develop their personal skills, leadership and coach development across both canoe and kayak disciplines. My aim is to offer you effective, individualised coaching that will aid your paddling development and help you become more efficient, confident and skilful in whatever you do.

My very first paddling experience was being taken down the Upper Tryweryn, in North Wales, in a Topo Duo (double kayak) when I was 16 years old and I absolutely loved it! I was hooked from that point onwards!

Ken Hughes

I'm Ken Hughes and I run kenhughescourses to provide opportunities for paddlers and outdoor people to become more skilled, better leaders and the best coaches they can be. My vocation has long been to do this and my mountaineering work has included Mountain Leader Award and SPA delivery. My aim is to offer courses that offer that little bit extra, more than the crowd. People do not come on my courses because they are cheap, they come because they work and are of proven quality.

Pete Bridgeford

I'm Pete Bridgeford, aged 20. I’ve been paddling for about 7 years now, based at my local club, SOAK, in Stratford upon Avon. For the past 3 years I've mainly been a freestyle paddler, but more recently I've been getting a lot more into creeking, having been to Yorkshire and Scotland last year and just coming back from a trip to Italy.
I got into kayaking back when I was at school when my friend asked if I wanted to come along to his club with him to try it out after school, since then, I've been hooked! I then progressed into freestyle after seeing one of the guys at the club cartwheeling around the pool.

Freestyle kayaking is essentially gymnastics in a kayak; where you are scored on combinations of moves performed in 45 seconds in a feature. I love this kayaking discipline: the freedom it gives you, whether it’s taking you to a new place, introducing you to new people or simply taking away all other thoughts from the day, it always gives me the peace I crave.

I have been competing since May 2012, and am now training for my first European Championships, in Bratislava, Slovakia this summer. My biggest achievement is gaining a full Team GB place this year, to compete at Europeans. I love to paddle at HPP in Nottingham, but also many of the Thames weirs, including Hurley and the Jubilee flood channel.

Ian Bailey

My first taste of kayaking was at 9 years old, on a cold, windy day at Bosworth Water Park as a young boy scout. It wasn’t until 18 that I really took up the sport properly, making up for lost time. Since then I’ve been lucky enough to paddle throughout the UK and Ireland, Iceland, Nepal and the Middle East.

I’ve dabbled with nearly every paddlesport discipline at one time or another, but white water will always be my first love. I enjoy freestyle, but it’s the downriver moves that excite me the most. Nothing makes me happier than playing my way down a fun rapid, hunting out all the surf waves, in good company.
