Shop and Boat Hire Manager

This is a full time permanant post,starting March 2016

The Role:

To manage on a day to day basis:

1. public boat hire operations

2. day to day running of the kit shop


For someone bright, determined, enthusiastic and hard working, this is a great opportunity to join our team as a permanent staff member helping to consolidate the business management. The role might suit a commercially orientated graduate or alternatively someone with appropriate work experience.


The post is for 5 days a week averaged over the year. Due to the seasonal nature of the business, you will work more days in the summer but less in the winter. You will be required to work a minimum of alternate weekends and some evenings in the summer period.

There will be the opportunity to participate in coaching and gain qualifications.


Salary is negotiable and dependent upon experience but is expected to be in the range of £19 to £23k.


Essential Qualities:


  • A keen and experienced paddler, preferably with coaching and/or leadership qualifications
  • First class telephone manner and interpersonal skills
  • Commercially aware and customer focused
  • Sales or customer service experience and successful track record, preferably in retail industry
  • Good level of computer literacy and numeracy
  • Able to work under own initiative and within a team
  • Evidence of success in a previous supervisory or leadership role
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work under pressure
  • Minimum of 21 years old, with a mature and responsible attitude to work
  • Non-smoker
  • Full driving licence and own transport


Desirable Qualities:


  • Paddle-sport coaching qualifications
  • Degree or similar level of education
  • Working knowledge of web based sales software, photoshop or similar
  • Proven experience in marketing
  • Practical maintenance skills, any mechanical, electrical or carpentry experience

Seasonal Boat Hire Supervisor and Coach

This is a full time seasonal vacancy, from April to October 2016.

Your primary responsibility will be for making sure the boat hire runs smoothly, with the help of the younger deck crew. You will be the main customer contact for boat hire during your day. The role is a physical job and you will need to be fit and strong.  You will also be coaching canoe and kayak sessions at the centre.

The ideal candidate would be someone that's hard-working, friendly and willing to get stuck in! You will need to be confident with both customers and staff, and have a professional approach to work. You will be a canoe and kayak coach, ideally at least UKCC level 2.

You will be expected to work flexibly to meet the demands of this small but vibrant centre, including approximately 2 out of 3 weekends, and 2 or 3 evenings per week. Your work will be split between our Leamington and Warwick sites.

Dragon Boating Helms

Warwick Boats and Leam Boat Centre are looking for enthusiastic individuals to train as Dragon Boat Helms for our corporate, youth group, and charity dragon boat events.

Full training provided with paid part time and session work from April to October

Desirable Qualities

Good with people and able to work confidently with public groups - not afraid to speak up!

Physically fit and a sound swimmer

Reliable and trustworthy

Other Watersport or sport experience
